Bravo Investigations can provide Travellers Eviction Service anywhere in the UK

The housing crisis in the United Kingdom has caused a shortage of authorised sites for travellers to set upon. This has lead to a dramatic increase in the numbers of travellers setting up on unauthorised encampments. We understand how important it is to protect your property from unauthorised occupants. Whether you have a vacant lot, an unused commercial building, or an empty house up for demolishing, you have the right to evict travellers from the premises according to Common Law.

Squatters and protesters can cause damage to the land, damage to the buildings, leave large amounts of waste behind them, bring in other groups of people and create negative publicity for your organisation. You will also lose out on your rent, valuables held at the property can be stolen and your utility bills can pile on.

There are various ways of evicting travellers from your property:

Common Law Power

  • Used by the landowner to evict the travellers.
  • No requirement for court order.
  • Only requires reasonable notice, usually one day.
  • The Traveller Eviction is enforced by Certificated Enforcement Agents.
  • No penalty if the travellers return to the property.

Part 55 Civil Procedures Rules

  • Used by the landowner.
  • Needs a court procedure
  • Involves solicitor and legal costs.
  • The Traveller Eviction is usually enforced by county court bailiffs or High Court Enforcement Officer.
  • No penalty if the travellers return to the land.

Sections 77-78 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994

  • Used by the local authority to remove illegal encampments.
  • Can be used on any land within the local authority’s area irrespective of ownership.
  • Used to remove identified individuals from the land.
  • Only require the involvement of the courts if trespassers do not leave when directed to do so.
  • Removal is enforced by Certificated Enforcement Agents.
  • Return within three months carries criminal sanctions.

Sections 61-62 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994
